The History Behind              North Bay CTK

The North Bay CTK Story

In 1981, a group of 54 adults started a new church on the Guide Meridian in North Whatcom County . After seven years, the church had fallen on hard times. They were deeply in debt and attendance was in decline.

Through the grace of God, and the courage of the original attendees, all of that has changed.

Today, twenty-five years later, there are 27 CTK churches including churches in Canada, and Cost Rica with an average combined total of approximately 10,000 people in attendance on Sunday mornings.

North Bay Christ the King is one of the newest CTK churches, having started on Easter Sunday, 2003 .

CTK churches are also involved internationally in training church leaders and ministries in Costa Rica, Ukraine, Bangladesh,India, Singapore, Poland, Thailand, Greece, Haiti, Africa, Greece, China and Mexico .

We are not a denomination, nor do we want to be. We are simply a collection of people and churches who are committed to reaching out to a broken world with the message of Christ and his love.

SMALL GROUPS:  are the very heart of the mission and ministry of North Bay CTK. These gatherings are the foundation upon which the ministry rests. It is in small groups that people carry out the essential functions God assigned to the church. This includes caring for one another as well as loving new people to Christ. The leaders of these groups are the most strategic people at North Bay .

As a mission driven church, we have chosen to organize around people instead of buildings. We have decided that the best way to gather people is ten at a time. These ten person groups are the primary organizational building blocks at CTK. Ten people can meet together in a living room on a regular basis for mutual care and support.

In small groups, people find a place to belong and build meaningful relationships. These groups are caring places. In his way, gathering people ten at a time, the church can reach an unlimited number of people without disrupting the quality of care that those within the church already receive.

What kind of church is this?
